Bamiyan Afghan Restaurant is at 358 Third Avenue, at the corner of 26th Street. We are open from 12 noon to 11 pm daily. All major credit cards accepted. For catering information, reservations, or to book a private party, please call (212) 481-3232.

Afghan cuisine is known for savory basmati rice dishes, tender lamb and chicken kabobs and a variety of dumplings and pasta dishes. At Bamiyan, the owners shop at farmer's markets for fresh locally-grown vegetables. We purchase superior quality long-grain basmati rice and bake it gently with mild flavorings. We welcome you with open arms and do our best to make every meal an extraordinary and delightful experience. We encourage you to share your thoughts with us by writing a review, or sending an e-mail.

Bamiyan is named after a region in central Afghanistan where two giant standing Buddhas were carved into limestone cliffs. Read about this historical landmark here. Some outstanding photos of Bamiyan and Afghanistan can be found at the website of photographer Luke Powell. Read more about Afghanistan at Afghanistan Online.

Established in 1993, Bamiyan is run by former Afghan supreme court judge Sayed Ahmad Shah and his brother Sayed Nader Shah.
